In 2.3.1 I was able to enter a link in a text, so that I could allow my student to jump to another page. Very useful, using only next/prev. makes the course very linear.

Am I right that this functionality does not work in 2.4.2 ?

It’ll be fixed in the next version (issue 431). You can use the old Free Text iDevice (Advanced user – Edit iDevices) until the next version is released. I hope it helps. Thanks for reporting.
