    Hi,

In 2015 I created several eXe-elearning courses on an Ubuntu desktop. I don’t know the exact version anymore.

When I try to open the files now with eXe, an error shows up: “Wrong file format”. I even tried the older eXe version from exelearning.org, but to no avail.

Is it possible to save these files?

(Heres an example file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ipchcwrdlrf645c/scratch.elp?dl=1 )

    Kind regards,

    Dieter

    Hi Dieter,

It’s not because it was made using a previous version, it’s because the file is corrupted.

Change the extension (from .elp to .zip). Then try to unzip it using any zip tool (an elp is just a zip with a different extension). You’ll see an error. Maybe you can fix it with a repair tool. That will be the way to open it. You’ll need some files in the zip (.xml, .data…) to edit your elp with eXe.

    Good luck…

Thank you for the response Ignacio!

I managed to find the original files on some older backup and they open fine – are not corrupted. Long live backups!

    Thanks for the amazing software!
